This song was conceived and written to
speak to the way we as people
typically are not very cognizant of our
worth; both self worth and
worth generally, in every aspect of our
lives be it work, relationships and
so forth.

This lack of awareness then cause
the many of us to settle, in dealings
or negotiations for far less than we
are worth and are thereby being offered
"A penny for our souls".

More often than not, if we look more
closely and have the courage to speak
truth to our worth, the world has a way
of giving to us what we ask even if it
may not be right away, as we may desire.
Patience is a sacrifice we must bear if
we desire a virtuous life. Alas too
many of us think we need to have it now,
whatever it is we want.

There should still always be a measure
of sticking to our standards/worth
though even if we must compromise a bit.
But be aware, compromising a bit does
not mean selling for far less than
you're worth, or adopting the "bad
relationship is better than a no
relationship philosohy".
